Flirty Spring Dress under $30

Did you do anything fun for Valentine’s Day? The hubs and I are typically low key and stay home on the V-Day, but I surprised him with a dinner out on the town. He loves surprises so this was a good reminder to try to do more of them and be more spontaneous (not a strength of mine!). Whether you had a Valentine or not, know that you are beautiful and so uniquely you. There is only one YOU so go be amazing with that you-ness.

I wanted to share this little number I found on Target.com for only $29 and of course with my Red card I got free shipping and an additional 5%. Woot Woot! The brand is Speechless which I’ve never seen in my local Target store so perhaps it is an online exclusive?

Dress XS * Wedges

The fabric is lightweight and sheer but is not see through due to the lining. It’s cinched at the waist, but is roomy on the lower half. The bell sleeves are not overwhelmingly billowy- they’re just right. While I’m wearing wedges, I think this a pair of beige booties would be perfect as well.

I would love to hear about your Valentine’s Day and what you did for your sweetie or what someone did for you!

Wishing you a beautiful day!

Friday Fitting Room Finds

Welcome to Friday! We made it. Any fun plans for the weekend ahead? We have zero plans over here and that’s the way we like it. Today I wanted to share some fitting room finds from Target (aka my second home).

Have you had a chance to check out Universal Thread at your local Target or online yet? They have some really cute pieces and the shoe and accessories line up are amazing. I have found that their denim shorts and pants do run a little bigger despite offering a 00 size in store.

Wrap Dress * Booties

I was excited to see this dress was restocked at my store as it was previously sold out. It’s a wrap style dress that is shorter in the front than the back with ruffles. It’s an orangish coral color. Beyond cute, alas it was just a little too big in the chest and waist. I hope it works for you though because I love it and would totally wear these boots with it (and a denim jacket!!)

Next was this flirty top that reminds me of the weekend. It would be perfect with some black or white skinny jeans on date night or a weekend BBQ. The XS was roomy and loose, but that is the style of this top and balances well with the off the shoulder cut. I don’t see it online yet, so I will link it up once it shows up there.

Tank

I bought this New Day tank top. It’s so springy and I plan to pair it a couple of ways… with white shorts, under a blazer or cardigan and with a black maxi skirt. There’s at least three different outfits! By the way, these tanks are $8 each or 2 for $14 and I have a variety of colors as I use them for layering and underneath sheer tops.

Tie Dye Tank

And yet another tank…did I mention it’s been 75 degrees in San Diego for this entire month of February?! We are blessed and loving this sunshine. I like the tie dye and it fits comfortably and on the looser side.

Off the shoulder top

Last but not least, another off the shoulder, boho style top. The bell sleeves are super dramatic on this one which is kind of fun, but I imagine myself accidentally dipping them into my plate of food or lighting on fire while I’m cooking. I probably would become a safety hazard if I wore this. I do love the baby blue color and smocked top detail.

And that’s a wrap. I hope you have a beautiful Friday and weekend!

Dress with pockets…enough said

Happy Hump Day!

Today I am bringing you a little midi length dress I found while perusing through Nordstrom Rack. At first glance, I didn’t love the print, but once I put it on it was a different story.

Dress XS * Wedges

It’s got a nice cinch at the waist, hits about 2 inches below the knee AND it has pockets! There is just something about a dress with pockets that makes me feel happy and at ease. So while the pockets are hands down the best feature of this dress, the price is the second best thing….it’s just under $16 because it’s on clearance. Last I checked, all sizes are still in stock with the exception of Large. You’re welcome.

Peasant Top Under $20!

Made it through Monday and a Super Bowl Monday at that! I am just popping in today to share a top that I love because it’s on clearance and under $20 right now. I paid full price for it awhile ago (whomp, whomp…). It’s a cute, little peasant, style top with 3/4 length sleeve.

What I love about this top is how lightweight it is without being see-through. The color is kind of a dusty rose and the lace detail is so feminine. I always get compliments about this top. Really flattering and beyond comfortable! Did I mention it’s machine washable AND you can throw it in the dryer on low heat.

Bell sleeve striped top

Target’s new brand, Universal Thread officially launched today and I am loving it so far. My local Target already had the brand shop set up and it was a mad house with all of us shoppers tearing through it. I was able to get my hands on this adorable bell sleeve, striped top. It is very reminiscent of Madewell or J.Crew.

I paired it up with my favorite Mossimo and Supply Co wedges and a little stone pendant necklace also bearing the Universal Thread brand name.

The fabric is really thin so you’ll want to wear a tank underneath. How about a red tank or coral tank for a pop of color?

Really fun button detail down the back. Good job yet again, Target!!

Off The Shoulder Dress XS

I thought this little floral, off the shoulder number would be cute for Valentine’s Day. It’s got a little side tie so you can cinch the waist. Very feminine and romantic. It’s not available online so check your local store. It’s by Xhilaration and I’m in a size XS.

IMG_5175

Wrap Dress XS

More flowers on this wrap style dress. Even with the wrap, it was a bit too big in the waist and chest, but it would be perfect for work. I couldn’t find this one online either, but it’s by Xhilaration and this is an XS.

IMG_5201

Cold Shoulder Top XS

My luck with the Knox Rose brand is hit or miss as far as sizing goes. This embroidered cold shoulder top is an XS and fit perfectly. I just couldn’t justify getting another cold shoulder top as I have so many, but I really liked it. What are your thoughts on wearing cold shoulder tops in the workplace, that is if you have a really casual workplace? Just curious.

IMG_5221

Off shoulder top XS

I liked this mustard off the shoulder top from Universal Thread. It’s an XS and thinking it would make a cute vacation or date night outfit. Uhm probably not with those workout leggings though. Sorry, I should have paired with some denim for the pic not these awesome workout pants.

IMG_5198

Small Floral Tote

How sweet is this little tote?! Trying to think what I can pair it with for an Easter outfit. It screams Spring and has a long crossbody strap if you prefer to wear it rather than carry. I am trying to weigh whether I will use it enough to justify buying it. Decisions…

    Grey Satchel

I loved the color of this handbag; it’s like a muddy grey. We’ll call it “mudrey”, the color you need when brown or black just won’t do.
And that’s a wrap for this week’s fitting room excursion and laps around the local Target aisles during my lunch break.

Petite friendly maxi under $30!

Hallelujah for the weekend. Any big Super Bowl plans? We’ll be playing it by ear this year as neither of us are loyal football fans but we do enjoy a good game, food and friends, so we’ll see. Today I’ve got another Universal Thread piece that I was able to snap up AND love. When you’re petite and you find a maxi dress that doesn’t drag on the ground, you buy it…no questions asked! I did have this dress altered just a tad on the sides. Honestly, it would have been fine without alterations, but I wanted it just a bit more fitted rather than flowy.

Maxi Dress * Shoes (old) similar here

It’s super comfy and is 100% cotton but feels and looks like linen. Now for the shoes…I am 4’11” and did the flip flop test and the dress does not drag on the ground. So verdict is you can pair with flat sandals or wedges. These wedges are old, but I linked up one of my latest favorite wedges that would be really cute with this. Excited to wear it to a BBQ or brunch- I suppose I best get to planning something!

DSC_0490Maxi Dress * Shoes (old) similar here

Before alterations pic…a little loose around the waist and on the sides. Now, keeping in mind that this dress is 100% cotton, it might shrink a wee bit in the wash.
